Aging In Place

Aging-In-Place

- Make your house a home for a lifetime.

What is Aging-In-Place?

In plain English, aging-in-place means remaining in one's home safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age or ability level. It means the pleasure of living in a familiar environment throughout one's maturing years, and the ability to enjoy the familiar daily rituals and the special events that enrich all our lives. It means the reassurance of being able to call a house a "home" for a lifetime.

The majority of Americans over the age of 45 want to continue living in a familiar environment throughout their maturing years. According to the AARP, older homeowners overwhelmingly prefer to age in place, which means living in your home safely, independently and comfortably.

How?

To age in place safely and comfortably, you may need a few modifications to your home:

  • Installation of bath and shower grab bars
  • Adjustment of kitchen and bathroom countertop heights
  • Creation of a multi-functional first floor master suite

Who can you rely on to modify your home?

Sycamore Builders has experience in:

When considering modifying your home, ask yourself:

  • Do I want to add a bathroom and possibly a bedroom to the main level?
  • How can I make my kitchen more functional?
  • Am I worried about preventing falls?
  • How much money can I budget for this project?
  • Will I need to get a home equity loan or a reverse mortgage Sovereign Bank?
  • Will other members of my family benefit from modifications?
  • Will remodeling increase the energy efficiency of my home?

"We lived in a normal two-story house.  However, as a man with a deteriorating back disability, I was finding the frequent trek upstairs to my bed increasingly long and painful.  My family and friends were seeing less and less of me until we got together with Sycamore Builders.  We now live in a beautiful custom built home designed to accommodate my physical limitations while allowing the rest of the family to function smoothly.  Sycamore Builders practical ideas, foresight, and management allowed me to build a wonderful home that suits my special needs.  Thank you, Larry"
